The sloop is located in the center of the village of Maarssen, close to Utrecht, and offers many boating possibilities. There are restaurants, bars, shops and grocery stores only a few hundreds meters away.
This is an ideal location to venture out from with many possibilities:
- Head north towards Breukelen, Nieuwersluis, Loenen a/d Vecht, and Vreeland. Admire the many 17th-century country houses and castles. Stop at one of the many villages and restaurants along the Vecht for a drink or something to eat.
- At Breukelen, cross over to the Loosdrechtse Plassen, including the Kalverstraat, and sail across the lakes via two self-operated locks and/or the Mijndense Sluis (paid) at Loenen a/d Vecht.
- Sail to Nieuwersluis and cross over to the Vinkeveense Plassen, cruise, and have lunch at one of the restaurants or the Harbor Club. Sail south towards Utrecht, stop at the lock, visit the city center, and enjoy one of the many terraces. Or go through the Weerdsluis/Locks (paid) and sail along the Oudegracht canal straight through the Utrecht city center to admire the old jetties and cellars from centuries ago.
